In our first class this year we were given an assignment by the teacher. This was to take pictures of an umbrella. At first we thought it was pretty weird and the fear of looking like Mary Poppins on a field trip grew with every step we took towards the door. We started, very modestly, to take some pictures of the umbrella in some bushes (?) and before we knew it we were running around the school like total weirdos with the umbrella in our hands, posing on top of trash cans and water was being thrown over our head. The result from all this engagement were really good, artistic and interesting photos. The more pictures we took the better they got. In the end of this little photo-session we decided to try to mix the umbrella and water in different ways. So we "borrowed" some buckets by the janitor and headed outside. This made a lot of interesting motives and we got many exiting photos. This was the best one, where we turned the umbrella upside down, poured water in it and shook it. This is a picture with lots of movement and a nice composition. The umbrellas metal poles drag the eye towards the left corner.
Here is a picture of a fellow student posing on top of a trash can. The dark umbrella is a big contrast to the white clouds and the light sky. Her arms sort of follow the lines of the building behind her witch creates movement and a dynamic feeling.
